Site rules and guidelines:
First of all let us welcome you to World of Catfish, a forum set up to service the fishkeepers of the United Kingdom and beyond.
In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of the Staff Members.
General Rules:
While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.
Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts.
Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.
To avoid disappointment please do not ask to be a Moderator. If a vacancy occurs then we will choose who we ask.
We also do not allow posts that are sexual in nature or violate World of Catfish community standards. The World of Catfish team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.
Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other property violations are not allowed.
Viewers read our forums every day so please only make intelligent posts which have a purpose. A message such as "Is anybody here?" just wastes everybody's time and will be deleted.
The posting of IP numbers is forbidden in public areas, including the PM system.
When quoting someone, only use the portion of the quote that is relevent.
Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.
Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members. The one exception to this is where we believe an Advertisement to be in the interest of the membership and with keeping of the Topic and direction of the forum, I.E catfish related or have a strong Catfish bias towards it. This consent will be granted at the staff`s discression. Be for posting, please contact a memeber of the senior staff team, as any adverstisments will be removed, and action taken as per the site rules.
While we are quite happy to have constructive comparative conversations about products, we will not tolerate blatant adverts. Also, we would appreciate it if any member would refrain from blatant bashing of other boards.
We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.
Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.
You cannot post any affiliate or referral links, or post anything asking for a referral. Such posts will be subject to removal, if you wish to have affiliation with this board please contact a member of the World of Catfish team.
No chat or leet speak, remember that this is a post forum setting not a high speed chat room, and that people from all over the world post here. Take your time, and show you payed some attention to what someone has posted before you. Take the time and courtesy to reply legibly. This means using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar to the best of your ability. We realize that not everyone is a native English speaker, but that is no excuse for anyone (fluent in English or otherwise) to reply with things such as:
U r Koo1!
N1 no where I can $ stuff?
and other forms of leet/chat speak.
The excuse of "I don't have time to type a regular reply" is unacceptable. If you don't have the time to reply in anyway but chat/leet speak, then come back and reply when you do
We also reserve the right to ban anyone who wilfully violates the forum rules.
Any threads/posts of these types will be deleted.
Advertising Services:
We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise or solicit any products or services.
Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members.
It is forbidden to use FK network sites to advertise other sites, that maybe considered competition to WoC or the FK network, or use information such as E-mail or IM addresess taken from FK or the FK network sites, including the PM system, to advertise other sites, that maybe considered competition to WoC or the FK network other a third party application, except without the prior consent of The Site Owner.
No posts about get rich schemes or free ipods or any other stuff like that, most of which are scams where someone, somewhere, loses out. Any such posts will be deleted and persistent posters will be warned and then banned.
You should never give out your World of Catfish password to anyone. We can not take responsibility if you disclose this information to anyone else.
Signatures containing links:
A link and promotional text for a site that is not commercial and does not contain product(s) and/or service(s) is allowed, provided the site is not sexual or does not violate World of Catfish community standards. The World of Catfish team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards. (Examples include sites about drugs and/or sex.)
Duplicate links to the same URL in a signature are not allowed.
All signatures should contain either normal sized text only or an image no bigger than 500 x 100 pixels.
For images in avatars: image up to 100 x 100 pixels
