{"id":5994,"date":"2024-06-24T19:05:57","date_gmt":"2024-06-24T19:05:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.wearedream.org\/?p=2753"},"modified":"2026-03-25T18:35:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T22:35:12","slug":"2024-postsecondary-commitments","status":"publish","type":"blog","link":"https:\/\/wearedream.org\/blog\/2024-postsecondary-commitments\/","title":{"rendered":"DREAM\u2019s Class of 2024 Postsecondary Commitments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This month, we&#8217;re celebrating DREAM Charter High School&#8217;s Class of 2024\u2014a cohort of big dreamers who are forging new paths for themselves, their families, and their communities.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, 100% of DREAM Charter High School\u2019s graduating class have committed to a college or are pursuing a professional pathway. The Class of 2024\u2014a cohort of 89 graduating seniors, 97% of whom are Black and\/or Hispanic and 20% of whom have identified special needs\u2014exemplify what\u2019s possible when we believe and invest in every child and their dreams.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Class of 2024 includes DCHS\u2019s first two Ivy League commitments<\/strong>: Columbia University and University of Pennsylvania.<\/li>\n<li><strong>$2 million in grants and scholarships<\/strong> were awarded to DREAM seniors for their first year of college.<\/li>\n<li>One DREAM student was awarded the highly competitive <strong>QuestBridge Match Scholarship<\/strong> to attend Columbia University on a full academic scholarship.<\/li>\n<li>82% will attend a <strong>four-year college or university<\/strong>, 2% have chosen a <strong>two-year college<\/strong>, and 16% are expected to enroll in a <strong>career pathway program<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Of those who will attend a four-year college or university, <strong>33%<\/strong> are headed to private, out-of-state public, or HBCUs; <strong>38%<\/strong> to SUNY 4-year institutions including the high-ranking Binghamton and Albany campuses; and <strong>29%<\/strong> to CUNY 4-year institutions, including Hunter and Baruch.<\/li>\n<li><strong>16 students have committed to Opportunity Programs<\/strong> <strong>(HEOP &amp; EOP)<\/strong>, accounting for <strong>22%<\/strong> of all committed students.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Students entering professional pathways<\/strong> will earn credentials in fields as wide-ranging as construction, culinary, pharmacy tech, electrical installation, and medical assistant programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our outstanding postsecondary results are grounded in our values: above all, our work aims to support student choice and agency in all that we do.
